It's been so cold lately that sometimes all I want to do is stay nice and cozy under my double-duvet covers. However, I remind myself that I'm only in Barcelona for a semester. Over the weekend, I saw Sabina and Gabby's apartment (right next to
La Sagrada Familia), hung out a bit, went to Will's apartment party where there was a mixture of Spanish, American, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, and other international people, and had a "mimosa brunch" on Sunday at Dave's. That was followed by sugary
churros and
café con leche at a café, watching
Almost Famous, and a delicious and filling dinner at a Colombian restaurant close to where I live. My plate was made up of some fried meat, sausage, rice and beans, a fried plantain, a fried egg, a chunk of avocado, and some flat bread. Our table shared a pitcher of
refajo, a mix of beer and
Colombiana, a sweet reddish soda. It was soooo good. There was enough left over food for a second dinner (which I enjoyed the next night).
Kind of blurry, but I think it still shows how excited we were about our food.
Yesterday (Monday), I went to my first UB class - "Introduction to the history of the Spanish language." It covers the evolution of Spanish from Latin to present-day castellano, doesn't conflict with my other classes, is taught in castellano and not Catalán, and therefore by my standards, it might be the perfect 4th class I was looking for.
Today, I saw Akansha's place (close to me!) and began brainstorming about planning trips to other cities/countries. There are so many places I want to go and not enough weekends/Euros to go everywhere, but I'm excited to figure it all out and book tickets!
