I remember writing about moving into my Spanish apartment when I was two weeks in to my study abroad experience. Back then, I had five months of new places, new people, and new unknowns to look forward to. Now, with two weeks left, I find myself looking back on all the memories I've made here, and although nostalgia is slowly setting in, the fact that I am leaving so soon has not really hit me hard yet. I'm nervous for that second, when all of this transitions from sharp, vivid, here-and-now moments to blurred recollections of that amazing time that I studied abroad. Some things I will miss:
This week, I had two finals for my core classes, art history and film. We also presented our final film projects, adaptations of García Lorca's surreal script Viaje a la luna, and it was a real treat to see different groups' interpretations. All seven were extremely different. My group and I were relieved to finally show the finished product after over a month of work!
On Wednesday night, Heidy, Caroline, Luke and I took advantage of the first day of Primavera Sound, an annual music festival. Shows were free that day at the Arc. Before heading there, we had some delicious Korean food; it must have been so good and I so distracted by eating that I didn't even take any photos. The Arc was pretty packed (and I got thrown into my first mosh pit), and although the acoustics weren't that great, I had a great time.
I had lunch with Heidy and Lauren N. at Marcelona - cheesy nachos, chicken quesadillas, and mango juice.
I have one more final on Monday, followed by a trip to the south of Spain on Tuesday, a few more days in Barcelona, and a flight home.
Cupcakes from Daniela Bakery
Salad and sandwiches from Cosmo
Cosmo's colorful atmosphere
The University of Barcelona's beautiful campus
Beach days

A little before midnight, we went to a bar close by for some beers, and then I turned 21 (Spain time)!
Did I mention that Heidy made me an extra yummy apple-cinnamon pie?!

The next morning, I woke up and opened two birthday surprises from people I love. One was a funny, inside-joke filled card from Gagan, complete with a bear sticker (supposed to be a "bear hug"!) and drinking game cards. The other was an email with an attached movie file from Chris. He got my friends and family back home to record a happy birthday message for me, put them all together, and sent it my way. Both were the sweetest surprises; I love you guys!!!

Then it was off to the beach! The weather was perfect: it was hot but with a slight breeze, and the water was blue and very still.
Playing mermaid
Lauren brought cherries!
Afterwards, Lauren and I went to see Luke's boat in the harbor.
I went home, washed the sand out of my hair, and got ready for the EAP end-of-the-year dinner. It was at La Lola, a restaurant on top of the Arenas mall at Plaza Espanya.
Akansha got me cookies and chocolate! :)
And the feast began...
After a rather interesting night of walking around, losing people, finding people, and randomness, I finished my 21st with some tequila shots at a bar called Ryan's.

I love you too!
